The Good Men Project Posts Misogynist Porn, Takes it Down, Says Nothing

Yesterday evening The Good Men Project put up a post titled “Older Man Provides Booze to an Underage Party, Dad Saves the Day”. At some point between when my RSS reader downloaded it and when I actually read it and tried to click through to the permalink for the post, they removed it. The only remaining records of its existence are search engine results that lead to a 404 page and this tweet. Even the Wayback Machine didn’t get to it.

I can speculate on why the post was removed: it was porn, and misogynistic porn at that.

The writer may have thought he was giving some sort of hat tip to equality by framing the post in terms of consent so his story of a barely-legal drunk girl being raped at a party by an older man would seem ironic or like a cautionary tale, but if so, the effect was too subtle. This is rape porn, and ending it with the rapist in the back of a police car doesn’t indicate a passion for justice when the “arresting” officer is the perpetrator’s father, who is clearly just going to let him sleep it off and then turn him loose again.

Strangely, no one else caught this story, as far as I can tell. I’m going to try to get some attention for it, because I think The Good Men Project deserves to be held accountable, and frankly, I’d like to hear their explanation—good or bad—for why they allowed this on their site in the first place. I’m even more interested in their rationale for pulling the post without comment of any kind.

UPDATE

I had originally posted image files containing the text of the post from The Good Men Project here on this page because I couldn’t find the content anywhere else. Thanks to Dianna E. Anderson, I can now link you all to this . Apparently I have still much to learn about this sort of thing. I have removed the image files from this site, although I will continue to retain a PDF copy on my hard drive in the event that the cached page disappears.

UPDATE 2

Google’s cached version has now been updated and reflects a later version of the page, after The Good Men Project had removed the offending content and posted their apology. In the interest of permanance, I am replacing the link to the cached version above with this link to a PDF saved from the Google cached version. The quality is not as good, but since it is on my personal web host, I am better able to guarantee that it will not disappear.
